The story of Guru- for the few underprivileged

Fabulous music, a brilliant cast that gave realistic performances, and the story of an extra-ordinary man named Guru - a perfect ten at the box office.

Guru, a middle class villager from somewhere in Gujarat, weak at academics sets out to Turkey to work in a factory owned by the oil giants 'Shell'. Apart from being an oil carton delivery boy, he also takes interest in the commodity trading market. With shrewd vision and calculated risk taking, he makes a good buck.

At work too, his boss is satisfied with him. After seven years in the same factory, he is being promoted to Sales supervisor with a heavy pay. But he decides otherwise and returns to his village to start his own "Bijness". To start off with, he is hard on cash (Rs.15000), so he marries Sujatha and accepts a dowry of Rs.25000.

He travels to Mumbai to get started. Against the wishes of many, he starts his trade in Kela silk, a risky one, but fetching high margins. He faces a lot of problems during the start, but with his witty actions and people-managing skills, he gets public acclaim and soon becomes 'Gurubhai'.

Few years down the line, after his business has reached great heights, he decides to start his own factory under the name of Shakti Corporation for producing silk - polyester. For the investment, he plans to approach the public (Public issue). Vision and dedication coupled with bending of rules and government policies for his own good, he soon becomes the King of the Indian Industry. He faces the brunt of the media against him for his slick ways of getting things done, ‘jidhar laath se kaam hua, udhar laath mari; jidhar salaam bolne ko kaha, udhar salaam mara.’

Shyam Saxena, from ‘The Independent’ (press) meticulously exposes all the misdeeds of Gurubhai. The public goes berserk at the continuous exposure of Guru’s false claims. All efforts to regain public confidence prove ineffective, and Guru suffers a paralysis attack.

During the time of his treatment and recovery he is summoned by the High Court following an investigation against his company. He calmly listens to all the charges against him on the first day; while on the second day, he comes all out against the law itself. A brilliant monologue ends with the court forgiving most of the charges and just penalizing Shakti Corporation for a meager sum.

The movie ends with Gurubhai addressing its investors and staff, congratulating them on being the country’s largest company and dreaming on to becoming the world’s biggest corporation.

Alongside Guru, played by Abhishek, is Sujatha, played by Aishwarya. Shyam’s character is played by Madhavan. Mithunda, the owner or ‘The Independent’, helps Guru in his early days to set up his trade against the pressures of the high society, who owned the trade associations then. But later, seeing Guru’s mischievous ways, he decides to go against him and challenges Shyam to bring him down, although Guru and ‘Nanaji’, played by Mithunda, remain close throughout.

The movie talks of the struggle of a simple villager, an oil station attendant on his way to becoming the most successful, though disputed, businessman of the country. It shows how believing in one’s dreams, and working relentlessly on them can bring success to one’s feet.

Well.. this is my version of the movie, you can read the reviews of the movie over the net.
Its definitely worth a watch, it is partially based on Dhirubahai’s life, also worth a read.

HERE I AM

Here I am, in a stranger's land.
Lonely in a place I wanna be.
Doing what I want,
Being what I am; being free.

I love this place,
I love it so;
This place completes me,
With its miracles and tragedies,
both wrapped in ribbon and bow.

Don't care what the hell the world thinks,
Life passes by, faster than the eye blinks.
I wanna get wings, I wanna fly high;
Its a lonely mind, a weeping heart,
But life I do enjoy.

Talk about the present

Hey i figured since we're done with the whole "How close we are as friends thing" we could start writing about our experiences now that we all live in different cities. That i think would be a lot of fun for everyone.

Chennai
Ok it's hot but not all the time. The afternoon it gets really hot but in the evening it's really pleasant. The city itself is quite nice, the people honest and the roads, buses and trains are quite clean. The real problem here is the crowd. It's quite a work and no party type of crowd. Thus the lack of places to really hang out.The most beautiful girls here are keralite(secret woohoo!! for my home state)

Anyways in terms of the place for a young crowd, although im still discovering there doesnt seem to be a lot to offer. There's spencer plaza which seems to be the centre of the city, all the good theatres are close to this place
Chennai is undoubtedly the business capital. Most of the southern operations of the big MNC's are handled from here.Infy itself is building it's biggest development center here.
The beach here is superb.Cleaner than most, not as good as our goa ofcourse, but still quite nice.It happens to be the second largest beach line in the world ,i've been told....will have to check that.
Interestingly mysore is to the south of chennai...
Bet you didnt know that...

Solitude..

The hibernation is over
Each one heads out a different way
Moving, finding, venturing alien lands
A new story each day

College life has sung its swan song
Those lukkha days said its last good bye
But memories still linger behind
Of college canteen and anna's chai

Its hard to understand
Why distances grow with age
Success in each one's mind
What's in is change

This uncertainty engulfs me
The fact that we may never meet again
To leave me in my solitude
Making desperate attempts to dodge the rain

Friendships transcending dimensions

The nature of friendship has a multitude of dimensions. You have it in a number of flavours. The friendships out of love, out profitm just friends for no other reason, acquaintances, friendships out of necessity just to name a few. Friendship remains a pillar of support in times of joy, pain, pleasure, disgrace, embarrassment and love. The dimensions and layers are mind bogglingly complex. Each one of us has his own special definition of friendship and what it constitutes. Love, respect, competence, fairness, common interests are just some of the ingredients that form that unique definition. Yet it remains an essential aspect of our lives, like a feeling you cant define, like a thought you cant touch, yet it envelopes you and you unconsciously recognize it’s importance in your life.

Of all these types of friendships I love and treasure the type I share with the ‘The beepers’. I call it a friendship that transcends dimensions. A friendship that runs deep enough to make you realize what they mean in your life, like a undercurrent of blood throbbing, telling you it’s there to keep you strong .

I know we all live separate lives now, each with our own agenda, purpose and direction, yet the friendship remains the only thing we share. No expectations, no sacrifices, no apologies. A friendship among souls is rare to most, so I’m lucky to experience it with so many.

This friendship is not yours, it’s not ours, it’s mine and mine alone. I’m selfish for this reason. I don’t terribly miss anyone because the reasons are not evident. I don’t miss the things we bought, shared, did or broke. I miss the conversations. I feel no need to call all of you everyday because I find it pointless. When friendship runs deep, silence is the deepest respect given to it, because time and space and distance doesn’t even threaten it, forget break it. If we don’t meet for the next 5 years , I’ll accept it . I know you all deep enough to know that no matter how the situations, cicumstances, or countries change, the souls remain the same , immune to change.
So when we talk after a month I feel nothing has changed, like I met you yesterday. This is the nature of the highest state of friendship, where neither physical presence, nor distance or time can change what is timeless.

So Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Sydney, Mumbai don’t matter. Distance is physical. Friendships stay forever

So far ,Yet So Close.
So far ,Yet So Close.

A Poem That's Dear To Me...

You guys probably must've read this before, but thought I should put it up anyways...(Also, this the only thing i have right now, which is "post"able:))

I've dreamed of many dreams, that never came true.
I've seen them vanish at dawn.
But I've realised enough of my dreams, thank God,
To make me wanna dream on.

I've prayed many prayers when no answers came,
Though I've waited patient and long.
But answers came to enough of my prayers,
To make me keep praying on.

I've sown many seeds that fell by the way,
For the birds to feed upon.
But I've held enough golden sheaves in my hand,
To make me keep praying on.

I've drained the cup of dissappointment and pain.
And gone many days without a song.
But I have sipped enough nectar from the roses of life,
To make me wanna live on.

I love to read this poem again and again.
(...but that's probably bcoz its my composition. Hehehe.)
